kirchoff travel diaries: day 1 in boston

Friday, July 20, 2018

We are home from our week long excursion to the East Coast! It was fun, exciting, stressful, exhausting and full of new memories for our family...everything a family vacation should be. We left Austin for Boston last Tuesday later in the morning.

I also must note this was our first vacation with no stroller and with only carry ons. We were a wee bit spoiled by both and there might not be any turning back now 😉

It was a long flight but all the kids did great. They've always been good on planes so we've been lucky in that department. Mostly thanks to Netflix downloads 👍

Once we landed we grabbed our rent car and headed to our dinner reservation at the oldest restaurant in the US, Union Oyster House.

Quick stop by the gift shop to browse some hats.

Food was great, atmosphere was perfect and we left stuffed and thankful for our first evening in Boston. We walked across the street to the Holocaust Memorial and walked through.

It was so beautifully done and very sad.

Next we headed through the neighborhood over to Quincy Market and grabbed some dessert. It was so fun walking through this market! Its as so bustling and loud and everything in there smelled amazing!

After grabbing some dessert we headed back towards our car and stopped at a local park where a band was playing.

I have to admit one of my favorite parts of Boston was the weather. Y'all it was amazing for this Texas family. Low to mid 70s. After hanging out a bit we walked back to our car and found our condo we rented in Little Italy. To our surprise it was about 2 blocks from where we had been. We unloaded our stuff then walked to a local pizza place and bar.

Cam and I enjoyed a couple of beers while we all shared a piece of pizza and watched the end of the Rangers/Red Sox game. Back to our condo we went and called it a night. It had been a perfect first night in Boston!

Linking up with Kelly for a not so QT.
