monday musings

Monday, June 5, 2017

Hello Monday 😊 You are going to consist of lots of laundry since my plan to get it all done yesterday was completely derailed by being insanely lazy 😉, lots of packing because not only do I have to pack for my trip, I also am packing up all 3 kids to stay at my parents house for 5 days and finding a few fun things to do with the kids in between the laundry and packing as mentioned above.

Kirchoff Sunday Best

When the time for Pentecost was fulfilled,
they were all in one place together.
And suddenly there came from the sky
a noise like a strong driving wind,
and it filled the entire house in which they were.
Then there appeared to them tongues as of fire,
which parted and came to rest on each one of them.
And they were all filled with the Holy Spirit
and began to speak in different tongues,
as the Spirit enabled them to proclaim.
Acts 2:1-11

Yesterday was Pentecost and I totally dropped the ball on wearing red

We all stayed out late at a graduation party Saturday night so all the kids were crazy tired. Milly fell asleep at the beginning of Mass and slept until Communion. She hasn't done this since she was a baby. It was kind of nice.
While we are on the subject of Mass, are my kids the only ones that think Mass is snuggle and sit all over Mom time???!!! I am not even joking when I say they all pile up on me or sit as extremely close to me as possible. I know I should enjoy these moments...especially with the boys...because they will be gone soon but man, sometimes I just need some space to BREATHE!

I have ALOT of cucumbers in my garden this year. Last week alone I picked 6 so I knew it was time to find a good and easy pickle recipe. Thank goodness for Pinterest and this delicious and super easy recipe!

We cracked open the jars yesterday and I'm not even exaggerating a bit...these are the best pickles I've ever had! I highly recommend everyone making them.

I really have no idea why packing has to be so hard. I started yesterday thinking "this is no biggie, I already know pretty much what I want to bring," only to find myself an hour later laying on the floor in the fetal position.

I kid, I kid 😇

But in all realness, it's not easy! Especially when we really have no idea what the weather is going to feel like. Highs of 60s with rain, lows of 40s. Plus the company we are traveling with have dress codes for all the dinners.

Evening casual dress
Business casual
Evening/Cocktail formal

Seriously??!!! I'm a stay at home mom who mostly wears tanks, tshirts and jeans and every now and then "dresses up" and throws on a skirt or tshirt dress. I was literally googling what these terms meant. My goal is to finish today so I can spend tomorrow packing for the kids so wish me luck. And I tend to overpack which I really really don't want to do for this trip so that just throws in more drama.

I'm in between books right now and really need a good one for the trip. I bought The Girls at Costco and plan on taking that but also might buy Our Own Country on my Kindle. I read the first one A Midwife's Revolt and loved it!
I've been watching Twin Peaks on Netflix and LOVE IT! A few months ago I saw Showtime was bringing it back and decided to start watching the old series from the 90s and man is it good. I loved the 90s and so much about the clothing style, the way the girls act, the music brings me back to that time. I'm almost done with Season 1 and plan on watching Season 2 on my Netflix app while we travel.

Okay...time to get Monday going...
