merry christmas

Christmas this year was perfect! Beautiful Christmas Eve mass watching my Asher serve, a special Christmas morning watching happy, grateful kids and an afternoon filled with family, food and lots of laughs. Unfortunately, in my mind I still think I am a spring chick and this spring chick decided to try out my niece's hover board. Let's just say that didn't end well and I now have my arm in a sling because I hurt my shoulder. Ugh...
So because typing with one hand isn't the easiest thing I've ever done I will just shower you with lots of photos from the past 2 days!

Merry Christmas friends!

winter far

We started off our winter break with 3 healthy and excited kids. Aiden is in a bowling league this year and had his year end party where his team received the 1st place trophy!

We were so proud of them. After the trophies were given out they let the families bowl with the kids. We had a great time and I have to say...I won! Like kicked my family's butt won πŸ˜‰

Next stop was Santa!

After they got off his lap Asher said "Mom I think that's the real Santa. He knew about me and Aiden arguing lately and told us we needed to stop." Thanks Santa 😊

Other then that we have seen 3 movies

And Sing. All were great! I love going to the movies with the kids and Milly is finally at an acceptable movie age.

And we've been doing a lot of baking.

With much more baking to come tomorrow.

I am currently home alone and loving it. Cam is playing golf and I just dropped off the kids at my parents house so I can get some Christmas stuff done around here preparing for tomorrow.

Merry Christmas!

"Behold, the virgin shall conceive and bear a son, and they shall name him Emmanuel, which means "God is with us."
Matthew 1:18-24

Hallelujah it is FINALLY cold here in central Texas! Sunday was super cold so we all bundled up and headed to mass. Then we came home and spent the rest of the day laying around watching movies and football.

And of course we lit our last purple candle on the Advent wreath at dinner.

My kids seriously crack me up lighting this wreath πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚

We have had a wonderful Advent this year and I am really enjoying all the new traditions we have started and actually stuck with. Spending these last few days awaiting Christmas has been wonderful. Our plans have gotten a little derailed as I have another sick kid at home...really??!! I am praying that we get it all out of the house before Christmas. So today while we are oiling up my little sickie and praying he feels better we will also spend the day watching holiday movies and wrapping all the remaining presents. One thing having sick kids has done for me is really slow me down. Which I must say, has been very needed.

This week has the been the busiest week and it literally flew by. I knew it was going to be nuts but I wasn't quite prepared for the high level of nuts that it was πŸ˜‰

Monday, Asher was home sick and after a doctor visit it was confirmed that he had strep. So we spent the day at home watching movies and it allowed me to get caught up on some laundry and housework from the weekend.

Tuesday, Asher was back to school and so was little Miss Milly.

Why oh why does my baby look so big??!!

This was my last full kid free day and I had a million errands to run! Happily I finished them all, the boys had their last gymnastics class and basketball practice for the year and even though it was a super busy day, being a productive day made me sleep a little better.

Wednesday, my partner in crime Marwa and I were hosting a cookie/hot cocoa/coffee buffet for the staff at Meridian. In my mind I figured it would take a couple of hours to set up and then we would be done. Not really how it turned out...

I ended up spending the majority of my day up there. We only took a small break to head over to Milly's end of the year dance class and performance.

The buffet was gorgeous and all the parents made beautiful cookies for the staff. Even though I hadn't planned on spending all day up at the school it was actually pretty fun and seeing all the teachers and staff so excited about the buffet made it worth it.

After the kids got out of school and we cleaned it all up we headed to church for confession. I guess we picked a day that a majority of the town was planning on confession because we were there over an hour waiting. But we left with squeaky clean souls so it was all good 😊

Yesterday was another early morning for me and little sister as we packed up and headed to the school for the boys holiday parties. I volunteered to set up (because I literally cannot say no when asked to do thingsπŸ™ˆ). This was the first year they had the parties in the morning and I have to say I like it alot better then before dismissal.

Obviously they decided on basketball themed pj's this year

Both parties were loads of fun and spending the morning with my boys in their element was my fav part of the week!

After all that party fun it was off to preschool for Milly and then home for me to finish up all last minute Christmas planning. I have to say those hours in a quite home yesterday afternoon was my second fav part of the week. It truly was glorious!

After school we played with friends and then both boys had sleepovers so it was just Cam, Milly and I. We ate take out and watched Prep and Landing. It was the perfect evening to end such a crazy week.

And here I am today relaxing and enjoying the quiet morning. On Sunday I looked ahead wondering how Friday would feel after all the busyness and I have to say it's feeling preeeeeetttttyyyy good ✌

"Make your hearts firm, because the coming of the Lord is at hand. Do not complain, brothers and sisters, about one another, that you may not be judged. Behold, the Judge is standing before the gates."
James 5:7-10 (full reading)

In my mind I pictured how cute would it be to get a picture Milly with the boys in their alter server gowns. And then reality smacked me in the face, ha! If I can look beyond these forced smiles they are still pretty cute πŸ˜‰ Everyone was in a good mood so I really have no idea what is up with the smiles.

We also celebrated at home Sunday evening lighting our pink Advent candle and Aiden reading to us.

It was a nice evening and left me feeling a little overwhelmed that Christmas is so close! Hey time, can you slow down a bit, m'kay?! After the kids were in bed, I made my to-do list for the week. This morning I was awoken by another sick child...this time Asher. So off to the doctor we go this afternoon to see what's up with him and I am really hoping he feels better soon. I really hate when my kids are sick πŸ˜•

Only 4 days left of school for us until winter break and we are all a wee bit excited (understatement of the century!). This week will be insane with school parties and such but I can see the light at the end of the tunnel (and it looks like me sleeping in πŸ˜€) so we will power through!

Only 13 days until Christmas!

christmas card time!

Saturday, December 10, 2016

This year we got really lucky with our Christmas picture! We were suppose to have them done by a really great local photographer but I had set the appointment without checking with Cameron and he had an out of town work event. By the time we figured out the scheduling mess up (literally 2 weekends before) she was already booked for the rest of the year. Big bummer! So instead I just set up our camera and got a picture of us myself.

And you know what...

It was perfect!

It only took 1 take which is a Christmas miracle for this family! Ha!

And then I got one of the kids which I LOVE!!!!!!!

They look so precious. I'm so glad they are mine 😊

Picking our clothes was a little hard this year. I wanted to use different colors then we have used in the past and I didn't want them to be the traditional Christmas colors. I found Milly's dress at Old Navy and loved it. I decided I would work around it for the family. Plus I love a black bow in her golden hair 😊 Asher is REALLY picky about his clothes so when I chose something for him I wanted it to be something he would actually wear. His shirt and Aiden's were also from Old Navy. My sweater was something I had previously purchased on sale from Evy's Tree. Cam's shirt was from Rome so no link for that πŸ˜‰

As every year, I order my cards from Shutterfly. I just LOVE their cards!

I just love Christmas cards. I love love love receiving them and every day in December the kids and are so excited to get the mail to see what card we have so far. This year I wanted to make a beautiful and fun card display.

My little helper

So far we haven't received too many cards πŸ˜‰ The non picture cards we get I will put in the card tool box.

This display was super easy to make. I already had the vintage tool box and bought some sparkly sticker letters from Michael's and just put them on. I love how cute it is! I also already had these white sprigs and they add a nice wintery feeling to the space. As for the frame I've been wanting to make one of these for the stairs to hang little 8x8 pictures on. So after Christmas that is where this beauty will be going.

The frame I bought at Michael's for 50% off.

The wire mesh and wire cutters I ordered from Amazon
We already had the staple gun but this is pretty much all you need!

Then take the back and glass off the frame and stretch out the wire and start stapling. I found it was easier to staple the wire on and then cut around to make it the correct size.

This project was so super easy and now we have a fun display for our cards!

Christmas is quickly approaching! We are going to enjoy these last few weeks watching Christmas movies, continuing our Advent traditions, making a visit to see Santa, possibly ice skating (if I can convince Cam πŸ˜‰), going to see Christmas lights, baking lots of yummy treats, preparing our home to host Christmas and most importantly spending time together as a family. This is truly my favorite time of year πŸ˜ŠπŸŽ„
