"Have no fear of moving into the unknown. Simply step out fearlessly knowing that I am with you, therefore no harm can be befall you; all is very, very well. Do this in complete faith and confidence."
~Saint John Paul II

We had the busiest weekend...but it was loads of fun :) Asher had his end of the season baseball tournament so that meant games Saturday and Sunday and Aiden had basketball evaluations Saturday as well.

Cam coaches Asher's team Reload and these guys had such an amazing season. They went undefeated into the championship which was quite exciting. They ended up losing the championship game and getting 2nd place but honestly I was just so proud of our boys. They gave it their all this season and I look forward to many many more watching them.

One of my favorite things in the world is watching these 2 on the field :)

sweet berry farms 2016

Wednesday, October 26, 2016

Last week was a doozie. I dubbed it the longest week ever because by Tuesday I (for some strange reason) thought it was Thursday. Blah! The week just seemed to never end. So Friday I decided to surprise the kids and pick them up early from school for a trip to our favorite pumpking patch

Sweet Berry Farms

We have been going to this certain pumpkin patch since Asher's 1st Halloween. It's about an hour and half away in Marble Falls. It's so worth the drive though...absolutely gorgeous!

They have 2 mazes there...a candy corn maze which is pretty easy and then the Texas Maze which is much harder. Every year Aiden begs me to go to the Texas maze and every year I say no...until this year. I figured why not! We were in no rush and had all afternoon. After I bought the tickets the girl informed me it takes about an hour to go through.

UMM WHAT???!!!!

Really, I had no idea. The boys were so excited about that I put on my smiley face and off the giant maze we went. It's the shape of Texas and they have placed certain city markers that you have to find. Once you find them you punch the card they give you with hole punch at the sign. Each punch is different so there's no way to cheat ;)

This ended up being a lot more fun then I thought it would be and didn't even really feel like it took an hour and half! Yeah you heard me (insert mother of the year fist bump).

Overall the trip was a huge success (no tears from Milly). It was such a nice afternoon that I got to spend just hanging out with my 3 favorite kiddos.

so, how do you like it?!

I hope you are enjoying the new blog look and name! I have been contemplating this for months...seriously ;) I knew that it was time for a name change and I have been wanting a certain look for awhile now. The name though was pretty hard to come up with. I needed something that described us now, was cute but not too cutesy. I wanted something fun and catchy but not too fun and catchy. See what I mean when I say it's hard? One day as I was about to fall asleep "camp kirchoff" just popped into my head. I mulled over it for a second and realized it was perfect! After the name came to me I had to decide on a look. So I hopped over to etsy and was quite surprised when I searched blogger templates how many popped up. I looked on and off for 2 months and just could not decide. Sunday night, since Cameron was gone, I had a lot of time to myself (the sleepover I wanted to have with the boys didn't quite work out) so I thought it was the perfect time to look at those templates again. And I found this one...on sale! I thought, what the heck and bought it!

So welcome to camp kirchoff

Things are pretty much going to be the same around here just look a little nicer and have a new spot on the world wide web :)

I've been asked many times why I blog. Some people blog for a cause, some blog because it's a revenue source for their family...I do it because I love to write. I really and truly love to write and my most favorite thing to write about is my family. Documenting our lives is something I hold very near to my heart. So whether I have 1 reader or 1 thousand, I will keep writing as much as I can because I want my kids to have a place they can come back and look at their childhood. Hear the stories from my perspective and know how much I loved them. I want to be able to have a space for myself to come back to and see how I was feeling at a certain time in my life. It's a virtual journal for our family :)

I hope you enjoy reading and keep coming back for more because I plan on writing here for a very VERY long time!

kirchoff travel diaries: day 7 pasadena and home sweet texas

Monday, October 24, 2016

By day 7 we were beat! I mean seriously exhausted-all I wanna do is sleep tired. We ended up sleeping until 10am (which the kids thought was so funny was noon Texas time) and slowly got up and got breakfast and coffee. The Rangers were playing baseball and Cam and Ash really wanted to watch the game, so the plan was stay in our room as long as we could and then head down to the hotel lobby and watch the rest of the game there. So while the boys watched the game I packed up the room. Then down to the hotel lobby we went and found a nice area to hang. The hotel employees were so super nice! There was a giant TV with comfy chairs and couches around it and they put on the game for us. We grabbed lunch at a nearby Subway and spent about 2 hours watching the game and relaxing. I had wanted to go up to Pasadena (about an hour drive) and see the Rose Bowl but was worried we were not going to have enough time. Cameron really wanted to make it up there because he knew how bad I wanted to, so even though the game went longer then planned, he insisted we make the trip.
*hindsight...we probably shouldn't have*

Let's just say we got some good experience in California traffic. It ended up taking almost 2 hours to get up there and we were running on limited time since our flight was leaving that evening. However I must say Pasadena is GORGEOUS!!!!! It's what I imagined the LA area to look like. The houses, trees, mountains...all gorgeous. And we made it to the Rose Bowl with little time to spare

We literally jumped out of the car, took a few pics and jumped back in only to get stuck in MORE TRAFFIC!!!!! I was freaking out that we were not going to make our flight. Luckily we came upon a "fast lane" that you pay extra for but don't have to sit in traffic. This lane saved our life! Cameron and I were seriously talking about what we would do if he didn't make the flight (he still had to drop off the rental car) and this lane made that sad outcome look a little dimmer.

Once we made it to LAX, Cam dropped off me, the kids and all the luggage and then took off to drop off the rental car and make it back. Let me tell you this was quite the interesting feat for me ;) The boys were great helpers but this airport did not have the friendliest workers and I found myself feeling a little on the stressed side (plus Milly was a little a little nuts at this point). Our bags made it in time to be guaranteed on the flight so that was victory number one. Off to security we went which was a lot more crazy then I was ready for. With only a handful of dirty looks (I seriously feel like no one in LA has kids) and a rather rude security worker we made it through...victory two. As soon as we got through security we saw an eating area with a Starbucks. Us Kirchoff's love Starbucks ;) We got drinks, snacks and sat and waited/prayed that Cameron would make it. 30 minutes later here he came through security. He made it!!!! We were all going home together. We headed over to our flight with only minutes to spare before they boarded. We waited.

And waited

and waited to finally be told that the flight was delayed 45 minutes. All that rushing and stressing for nothing. Oh well. An hour later we boarded the plane and set off for Home Sweet Texas! The kids were perfect on the flight home and because of that I got to finish the book I was reading on my Kindle. It was a great flight to end a perfect(ish) trip.

After we landed we grabbed our bags and headed home. We pulled into our driveway around 12:30am, put all kiddos to bed and hit the sack ourselves.

This trip was such an amazing time for our family to spend together. Traveling with the kids just seems to keep getting easier. The boys are at perfect ages for travel and Milly is quite the trooper herself. I look forward to many many more adventures with my little tribe :)

California...thanks for the memories :)

I will finish our last day of travel tomorrow and hopefully write a blog about travel tips for families this week as well. I've learned a lot of tricks in the past few adventures and want to share them with you and document them for me ;)

"Faith makes us open to the quiet presence of God at every moment of our lives, in every person and in every situation."
~Pope Francis

Both boys served on Saturday again this week. I just love seeing them serve together! I can remember when we would come to mass when they were little and just think about the day they would be up there. I still cannot believe it's here. Time truly just zips by. One of the reasons I love blogging is it bottles time up. I look back at posts that I've written and while it seems like forever ago I know it really wasn't.

Cameron left town this afternoon for a business meeting in Ft. Worth and won't be home until tomorrow. I had all these plans of things to get done today but haven't really done anything. I started cleaning my laundry room but was distracted, I just finished putting groceries away from a trip to the store we took this morning and dinner is only about halfway done and it's 6pm. Oh well. I did find time yesterday to plan our insane week ahead

I mean really?! Our life is just insane! The good news is, Cam is right in there with me so at least I'm not in this alone :) The best part of the week is that my housekeeper is coming to save me from this mess of a house Thursday ;)

I'm secretly planing a sleepover in bed tonight with the boys! They always want to sleep in our bed...mostly because it's the MOST comfortable bed in the tonight I'm going to surprise them and I'm so excited. We are also going to watch the Princess Bride. I hope they like it...

kirchoff travel diaries: day 6 california adventure and disneyland

Friday, October 21, 2016

I will first say that we had all intentions of waking up super early and being the first ones at the park but when my alarm went off I hit snooze. And then again. And the I looked at my cute family sleeping so soundly and decided that I would let them sleep a little longer. So I got up and dressed, headed downstairs for coffee and snacks for the fam and then decided to wake them up. It was a good thing I let them sleep because they were all in a great mood and ready for the very long day ahead!

We started off in California Adventure. Once we got there we grabbed a few Fast Passes (I cannot even describe this system because I could barely understand at this park) and then hit up the Monster's Inc ride. The park was fairly empty which was a nice surprise!

After the ride we saw that Olaf was about to get set up to see guests. Of course we had to stop by and say hi! Especially since I heard his line is usually super long. Luckily we were 4th in line!

Next stop was the Disney Junior Live show! Cam and Aiden really had no interest in this show so I sent them off to ride the big roller coaster at the park and we just planned to meetup afterwards.

Ash, Sis and I really enjoyed the show! Milly was so excited to see all the Disney Jr characters she loves.

They had bubbles, foam and gold coins come from the ceiling and all the kids were laughing and yelling. It was pretty neat. As we were leaving we saw Doc Mcstuffins so of course we had to stop for a pic.

And we saw Nick Wild and Judy Hops in the distance to we rushed over there only to find out they closed the line.

We headed over to It's a Bug's Life land to meet Cam and Aiden.

Had to stop for a selfie

Of course they LOVED the rollercoaster!

Our first stop in Bug's Land was a ride Milly had been really wanting to ride so it was our first stop.

Then we stopped over to try out some bumper cars

At this point we were on a bit of a time crunch because we had lunch with the Princesses at a certain time. So we headed to that area and went ahead and did the Little Mermaid ride since there was no wait.

Then over to lunch we went. This has to be one of my favorite moments of the trip. This lunch was insanely expensive but worth every.single.penny. Milly was beyond excited. Right when we walked in we met Ariel and then headed to the table where they would announce the other princesses that we would meet.

She took this pic of herself...she was SO excited!

First up was Belle!!!!

All the ladies were so sweet with the girls :) Every time one came over Milly just stared at them and even touched their cheeks. She was in awe! Then they announced that Rapunzel was there!

We were all SO excited because this is her favorite princess :)))))

Rapunzel was the best! We told her that she was Milly's favorite princess (because Milly couldn't talk...all she did was stare at her, ha!) and she kept hugging her telling her how happy that made her. Cam and I both got teary eyed. I know it sounds so silly but it was just a really special moment for our little princess.

Next up, Cinderella

And the Tiana

The lunch was perfect. Even the boys loved seeing their little sissy so happy. We left there all on a high and headed over to Car's Land.

Cars Land is amazing. It's really like stepping into the movie. It was one of our fav moments of the day.

We met Mater (he actually talks) and then went on the famous Radiator Springs ride.

This ride was the best! Seriously one of my favorites ever. So much fun and if the wait wasn't forever (thank goodness for Fastpass) I would have rode it over and over.

Since Milly couldn't ride the ride we got her a giant lollipop!

My once high maintenance child could have cared less she couldn't ride certain rides. She was such a trooper!

I bet at this point you are thinking man I wish she would have taken some pictures, ha!!!!

After we left Cars Land we rushed over to The Tower of Terror for Aiden and I to ride. They have this ride at Disney World and it's my all time fav. They are closing the one here at Disneyland in January so I had to ride it and Aiden was the only one that wanted to ride it with me.

We grabbed a few pics before the ride.

And then off Aiden and I went!

We look like twins!

It's so spooky and SO MUCH FUN!!!!

We were just cruising around the park pretty much checking everything off the list at this point. Our next stop was the Frozen Live Show

It was like watching a Broadway performance. Gorgeously done and very fun to watch! After the show we rushed over to get a good spot for the Pixar know me and  parades ;)
But not before we grabbed a few more pics.

We were all pretty exhausted at this point. Cam and went and grabbed the kids waters and us adults a few beers (yes they sell beer there!!!!) and we all sat back and relaxed a bit.

Then the parade started!

And, of course, it was fantastic! My fav parade ever!

When Toy Story came around the corner Milly and I almost died! LOL!

It was fabulous! Again I think everyone should visit Disney at least for the parades :) We were all so happy after the parade we headed over to Paradise Pier to end our day trip at California Adventure.

We rode Toy Story Mania which is one of our favs

Asher and I rode California Screamin and Aiden and Cam rode it for a second time after us.

Best roller coaster I've EVER been on! And Asher's face is priceless ;)

The boys ate their first ever turkey leg for dinner.

We rode Kind Triton's Carousel

California Adventure is suppose to have this amazing water and lights show at dark so we grabbed what we thought would be great seats. Once the show started we found out they were not so good :/

We only could see the back of the show. We tried to go around front but there were only a mere million people there (:)) so we just decided to head over to Disneyland and do a few rides that we hadn't had the chance to the day before.

I know I've said it before but I just love Disney :)

We really wanted to ride the Indiana Jones ride because I had heard it was amazing. The wait was an hour which was kind of a bummer because we only had 2 hours left before the park closed. So Cam and Aiden got in line and Asher, Milly and I jumped on the jungle Cruise (an original ride) which was right next to it. Milly was kind of fussy and ended up falling asleep in my arms. This ride was hilarious, creepy and scared the beegezus our of Ash and I! HA! (no pics because I was holding a sleeping child)
After the ride I text Cam and him and Aiden were still in line so Ash and I stopped by a little shop to grab a few souveniers and waters. Then found a nice comfy spot and parked.

Let me just say the wait was SO worth it! This Indiana Jones rides amazing!!!!! My fav one we went on the entire time we were there. Luckily with Rider Swap Ash and I didn't have to wait at all. After we came off, we were all in a good mood again and little sis was awake. On our way over to Fantasyland we stopped for Dole Whips (SOOOOOO delicious) and then pictures in front of the castle.

And decided the last ride we were going to was Nemo's Submarine.

This ride was really neat as you are in a real submarine but it was so relaxing Cam and I almost fell asleep ;) When we came off the ride the park was closing and for awhile we were the only people in the area. It was really weird walking around Disney with no one around you. Once we got to main street there were more people and we decided to stop for a few snacks. I had seen people wearing the "1st time to Disneyland" buttons so I asked the girl where to get them and surprisingly she had them!

We left the park around midnight (after getting Aiden's lost hat at lost and found) and walked the long walk back to the hotel. It was an amazing day filled with tons of fun, no meltdowns and memories that will last us a lifetime. Till next time Disney :)
