Yesterday I took Amelia to get her 2nd haircut. We were trying to grow out her hair but it was growing so crazy and uneven I decided we finally had to do something about it :) So I took her to the girl I go to to get her hair did

She was very excited waiting!

Then very nervous while it was being washed.

The whole time she was getting it cut she kept saying "not too much I want to be like Rapunzel." Ha!
I think she is way more beautiful then Rapunzel :)

All of these poses were her idea ;)

In June I took the kids to the Religious Education office at our church to sign up the boys for VBS and all 3 kids for RE classes. This is the first year Amelia can take RE and I am super excited for her. When they boys were her age they loved this class and I know she will as well. I had been thinking about volunteering to teach a class but decided that I might wait another year. As I was filling out the paperwork for the kids, the lady in charge asked me if I might think about volunteering to teach a class.

It literally just fell out of my mouth without even thinking about it. I sat there afterwards a little stunned that I said it to be honest. She was so excited and had me fill out a separate form. I mentioned to her that since it as my first year I would really prefer to be an assistant and she said okay.

Then came Sunday in Mass. I grabbed a weekly bulletin as we were leaving and noticed a sheet of paper that was inserted that said Faith Formation classes. I scanned it looking for my name and what class I would be in.

And there it was...

3rd grade Sacrament Preparation

I literally sat frozen in the car and double and triple checked it to make sure it was correct. And...I have no aide so it's just me teaching the class. I immediately felt a little sick to my stomach. Why in the world did they chose me to teach this class? I have NO qualifications! It makes NO sense! These were all the things floating through my mind. Then at the bottom of the page I saw this quote.

"Remember: He doesn't call the equipped,

It was as if this was put there for me. I took a deep breath and laughed a little. Why in the world would I think that I was not good enough for this job. I have been a Catholic my ENTIRE life. Everyday for almost 36 1/2 years (I was baptized when I was 3 weeks old). I attended Catholic school for 9 years. I attend church regularly, read the Bible, pray the Rosary and have 2 children that have already been through their 1st communion. I am more then ready/qualified for this.

After the dust settled I started to get excited for my new calling. I am going to lead a class through one of the most important years on their faith journey. I mean how cool is that? I am so excited and more ready then I was just 3 days ago ;) Am I still nervous...of course! Nerves come with anything new in life. I am always telling my kids not to be afraid to try new things so how silly of me not to take my own advice. So wish me luck (and pray for me) as I take on my new calling in just a few weeks :)

this and that

Tuesday, August 23, 2016

I woke up yesterday morning refreshed and ready for a new week. Last week was exhausting. It was our first full week of school, first week of homework and it rained all week. I have to say that the rain was a nice welcome since we had a break from the everyday 105 temps. For some reason I am more productive in cool rainy weather then hot weather. Maybe that's why last week was so busy ;)

Cameron and I spent a lot of the week planning for our next big family vaca. The boys have a week off in October and we wanted to use this time for a vacation. Vacation planning is exhausting! More on this vaca to come :)

Friday our lovely housekeeper came to save more from the wreck of our house so Amelia and I stopped by the mall for a couple of hours to grab some gear for our upcoming trip and then hit up a local trampoline place.

We had a really fun afternoon :)
A stop at the Disney store is never complete without a Rapunzel toy ;)

Thanks to all the rain lately I had a great excuse to buy some rain gear!
This gorgeous rain coat was a steal from Amazon!

And thankfully we had it (and a few new umbrellas) because Saturday pretty much looked like this

Cameron braved the storm and BBQ'd a brisket.
For Father's Day he got a Green Egg pit and since then had been cooking dinner every weekend. It's the gift that gives and gives...

Sunday we went to church

And then dropped off the kids at my parents house and had a day date. Day dates are my jam! We grabbed lunch at Wendy's (super romantic) then headed over to the theater to see Bourne. Of course Matt Damon did not disappoint :)

After we picked the kids up we headed home to do a whole lotta nothing!

Yesterday after swim little miss Amelia and I did a little back to school shopping for her. It was fun! I love me some shopping and she is at a great age for it. We scored tons of deals and now she is all ready for preschool which starts after Labor Day.
Of course a trip to the mall is never complete without a ride on some creepy dirty rides! Ha!

Here's to us surviving another week!!!!

well checks

Saturday, August 20, 2016

Once upon a time I was so on top of well checks. My kids literally had their well checks either on their birthday or the days immediately following. Now we have them sometime in the year that they are the age of said well check ;)

Last Wednesday we strolled into the Pedi for both boys well checks.

Asher 9 years old
Height: 4'5
Weight: 54lbs

Aiden 10 years old
Height: 4'9
Weight: 63lbs

Everything went great, both boys are healthy, even thought slightly on the skinny side, but hello genetics...nothing we can do about that :) They told hilarious stories to the pedi and as usual he was quite entertained. As we were leaving he said "Your family impresses me at how well they work together." Thanks Doc!
To all of our surprise Aiden had to get a shot. Literally I had no idea and promised both they wouldn't so you can imagine the glare I got from Aiden when he was told he needed one. Whoops! He was a champ (he HATES shots) as he took his Tetanus booster. The bad thing...poor guy ended up having a reaction and its been a rough couple of days. The school nurse called me yesterday afternoon to pick him up because he was feeling so rotten. When I picked him up I noticed his arm was very red, puffy and super sensitive to the touch. So back over to the pedi we went so they could look at it. Good news is it's not infected but he is having an adverse reaction. So cold compresses and motrin was ordered. Today it's feeling better but is still red so we are watching it and him.
And sometime in the next few months we will be heading back in for little sister's 4 year check up. Not looking forward to that one at all!

Happy Weekend!

life with little miss amelia

Thursday, August 18, 2016

A few weeks ago I mentioned that we (mostly I) were going to be trying a new bedtime routine with little miss. I was sooooo nervous going into it as I had no idea what to expect from her. I've said before and I'm sure I will say it a million times...this one keeps me on my toes. I have never had a child like her and never will again. She is so strong willed and stubborn yet sweet at pie. It's really a split personality ;) So as you can imagine, this new sleep adventure had me stressed.

dress: Stellybelly

As per her usual self she shocked us all.

The first night there were many tears leading up to bedtime. I gave her a bath where I played with her for a good 15 minutes (I know that might not sound like a big deal but when you are making sure 3 kids get ready for bed it is), read her 2 books, prayed and then got out, kissed her and left the room. She was super brave as I left and with small tears told me goodnight. I stood outside her door for about 10 minutes and to my shock nothing happened. She didn't yell for me, heck she didn't make a peep! She never came out of her room not even once. As you can imagine Cam and I were shocked. Even the boys were shocked. The next morning we made a HUGE deal about what a big girl she was and her little face was all smiles.I was afraid that the first night was a fluke so the next night I was ready for her to put up a fight. Nope...again she surprised us and stayed in her bed all night, never once yelling for me or getting out. Fast forward to now. She is still successfully staying in her bed and falling to sleep. I'm not kidding you when I say this is LIFE CHANGING!!!! I finally have my evenings back. I've started reading with the boys again in the evenings and now Cam can do bedtime with her. This little girl is just too much :)

She also informed me that she didn't want to swim with her floaties anymore. This coming from a child who at the beginning of summer wouldn't even get in the pool! So I signed her up for swim lessons at a local place that I have heard great things about.

She was soooo cute at her first lesson. She got right in line by herself and listened very attentively to her teacher.

My little lovie is growing up and that brings me so much joy. She will be starting preschool 2 days a week this year and will also continue with ballet. As I said before I am truly embracing my children growing up and love it more then I could have ever imagined. Long gone are the days of diapers and sleepless nights. There was a time I thought that I would be sad about that but I'm not.

I love my big kids and look forward to many many adventures with them :)
Even though they looked like they were being tortured I can assure there was no harming of children for this photograph ;)

This is the next habit we are going to break. It's about time, right??!!

I am a HUGE fan of the Olympics! I seriously love every second and have found myself completely glued to the TV any chance I can get. I am also trying to pass my love of the Olympics on to my kids. So far Aiden and Ash have caught the bug ;) Lately they have been having their own competitions in gymnastics, running, swimming and diving. It's been rather entertaining to say the least :)

Sunday evening we all seemed to gather in the backyard, enjoying the nice cool breezy evening and watching the kids compete.
Of course little miss Amelia had to get in on the action!
She would yell "yet me win" to the boys!

As the kids were swimming the sunset was truly amazing.
God is oh so good!

back to school feast!

Saturday, August 13, 2016

Last Tuesday, the evening before school started, we had our annual

Back To School Feast

and it was great :) I locked the kids up in my room while I set out everything and decorated and then led them out with their eyes covered to go to gymnastics. When we got home we were ready to feast!

The evening was great and I have to say I really enjoyed doing it the evening before school instead of the first day like last year. You just never know how your kids are going to feel after the first day.

The goodies we got the kids.
I scored that zip up binder from the Pottery Barn Outlet for only $9! The planners are from Plum Paper.
Milly's notebook was a Shutterfly free steal :)

All of them were excited about their gear. Asher has been planning away everyday. I love it!

We had another great Back to School Feast! The kids made goals for themselves for the year and we talked about expectations we have for them. Here's to a great school year!

14 years

Friday, August 12, 2016

Wednesday, August 10th we celebrated 14 years. 14 years of marriage is a long time. The good thing hasn't felt that long :) At church last week during the homily, the priest talked about marriage and how the one thing a successful marriage needs is forgiveness. I'm sure anyone who has been or is married will agree that is true. It's mostly forgiving the little things. The everyday things that your spouse does that gets under your skin. It's forgiving yourself of these annoyances. Forgiveness is an amazing power.
The one thing that has surprised me most in our marriage is the more I love him every year. If you would have told that young 22 year old that 14 years later you would love your new husband more then on the day you married him I probably would have laughed. Every year our love grows and becomes more real. For that I am thankful :)

"Blessed are you, O God of our ancestors, and blessed is your name in all generations forever, Let the heavens and the whole creation bless you forever. You made Adam, and for him you made his wife Eve as a helper and support. From the two of them the human race has sprung. You said, 'It is not good that the man should be alone; let us make a helper for him like himself. I now am taking this kinswoman of mine, not because of lust, but with sincerity. Grant that he and I may find mercy and that we may grow old together.' And they both said "Amen, Amen."
Tobit 8:5-9

Happy Anniversary my love. I look forward to many many more years together :)

1st day of School!

Wednesday, August 10, 2016

Yesterday we had a little Back to School photoshoot with my REAL camera ;) The boy's cooperated quite well when I asked them to get ready in their school clothes.

And then this morning was the real deal!
I cannot believe I have a 5th and 4th grader. When did I get old enough for that???

Thankfully the first day was only a half a day and after school we met up with friends and enjoyed some ice cream.

last day of summer

Tuesday, August 9, 2016

Today is officially the last day of summer. We have REALLY been cramming in every.single.second we could out of this summer but alas it's coming to an end.

And I'm not too sad about that ;)

And I don't feel a single bit guilty about that ;););)

I absolutely one hundred billion percent adore my kids. I remember when they were younger just dreading the start of school and wanted them to stay home forever. I would hear moms talk about how they couldn't wait for school to start and I was shocked they felt that way. I would judge them and think I was better then them basically because I was young and naive. The older more confident mom that I am now has thrown away the "judging cap" I use to wear. I've learned so much in these 10 years I have been a mom. The thing that has changed is the older my kids are getting the more I am enjoying them. I am no longer afraid of them getting older and moving on but am excited about it. I am so excited about the 5th and 4th grade for my boys. They are going to have so many new adventures, learn so many new things and I am so excited for them. I keep telling them that their best school days are coming! These are the years they will remember as adults and I love that for them!

I have a huge list of things we need to do today which include a back to school photo shoot and our Back to School Feast this evening! But before I leave enjoy these pictures of our last weeks of summer :)

Best Friends!!!!

Baseball Games!

The boys were chosen to go on the field and stand with the players during the national anthem. This was seriously a dream come true for Asher! While they were down there they got a few autographs :)

And to top off all the fun, Asher had a player throw him a ball! Not bad for a Monday night!

And I know I'm a little biased but is she not the cutest thing you have ever seen????!!!!
She's a real life cabbage patch doll! Those cheeks and eyes...I die!
