The classic Santa pic has been a fav of mine since Aiden's first one when he was 10 months old.

These are all pictures of pictures so bare with me on the quality m'kay? ;)

Every year I pick out cute matching outfits and off we go to see the big man in red.
All but 3 years we have luckily sat in the same Santa's lap :)
2013 we had a photoshoot with a photographer and those are some of my fav Santa pics ever! It was at a Christmas tree farm and they are just adorable.

I seriously laugh every time I see this one ;)

After the last 2 years of Sissy loving Santa I was a little nervous about this year.

So without further ado here is this years Santa pic...
outfits from Zulily

Let's just say she didn't love him but she wasn't terrified either ;) Asher told me when he asked her what she wanted she said "all the toys." So then he told Santa what she really wanted.

This year my kids Santa lists were pretty insane. Our tradition is they get 3 gifts from Santa just like Jesus got 3 gifts from the 3 wise men. The thing is the 3 things they wanted (well mostly Asher) were quite pricey. I felt a little disheartened at the thought they that think they deserve these expensive things. I mean how are we raising them? One day in December, I took Asher to the dentist. As we were talking to the hygienist, she asked Asher what he was asking Santa for. I slightly cringed as he told her thinking what is she going to think of this. To my surprise she said "well those sound like great gifts, I wish my daughter would ask for stuff like that." Then she said "you know what my daughter is asking for? For her parents to spend more time with her."

The room went silent.

First of all I couldn't believe she told me that and secondly I felt really sad. Not only for the little 9 year old girl but for her mom. How must that make her feel when all her daughter wants is time with her. After we left and got in the car Asher said "Mommy I can't believe that little girl doesn't want any toys." My kids have all of me all the time...literally. They wouldn't have a clue what it would feel like not to spend time with me. And you know what, that's exactly how I have always wanted it. My heart no longer felt defeated but thankful that my kids ask for ridiculous toys because their lives are simple, happy and fulfilled. Cameron and I have always made an effort to do family things, spend lots of time as a family and hearing from another mom with sadness in her voice, I have never been more satisfied with that decision then I am now.

"The life of a family is filled with beautiful moments...but if love is missing, joy is missing, nothing is fun. Jesus gives always gives us that love: he is it's endless source."

gingerbread house

Monday, December 21, 2015

I have no idea why I continue to torture myself every year with the whole grand idea of

Making a Gingerbread House

because honestly I really dislike it ;) It's just so darn stressful trying to build the house to stay together, then the kids so impatient waiting for it to dry before they can decorate and then having them beg you for days to eat it resulting in a sugar coma. I mean really the whole thing is a big pain in the a$$!

However they ALWAYS talk me into it and in the end the houses are pretty cute.

Will we do it again next year? I really have no idea but I do know that my kids power of persuasion is becoming pretty powerful.

This little lady is quite the sneak I must say :)

school is out...for...Christmas!!!!!!

School is out!!!! Wahoo!!!!! We all enjoyed sleeping in this morning. And little sister was so sweet as to not wake me last night ;)

yes she still usually wakes up once a 3 years old...

The last day of school means wearing PJ's to school and parties all day! The boys look forward to it every year. This year they decided to wear their matching Snoopy Christmas pj's and sports robes.
I mean really how cute are they??!!

Amelia decided to get ready for the party she needed some makeup ;)

Then we put on her Christmas pj's and off to the party we went!
There was cookie decorating, cupcake decorating, photo booths, games, crafts and lots and lots of excited kids! It really was lots of fun.

I am so happy that school is over for now. We are going to see the Stars Wars movie this afternoon and then we are all looking forward to a relaxing week before Christmas. After Christmas we are going to be off for New Mexico and skiing for the first time as a family. I am so excited and nervous about this adventure :)

Here they are...our...

Christmas Decorations

I absolutely love our tree. We only had it a year at the old house so I could not wait to get it back out this year! It's just so pretty
tree from Hobby Lobby

And I love all of our special ornaments. Every year I buy one that represents something of that year. These are a few of my favs

Our mantle this year, while I love it, did not exactly turn out how I wanted.
trees from Target; wreath from Michaels

I had big plans to make my own stocking holders

and even ordered the decals but then lost them. Honestly I think they were thrown away which was a huge bummer. There is always next year though ;)
Our stockings are from Paisley Pockets and I just adore them!

Our front table looks so pretty

One of my favorite things to decorate with for Christmas is pictures. I just love looking back over the years.
I picked up the banner on the dollar aisle at Target this year.

This sign though, is my favorite purchase of the year! I found it from a little shop on Instagram. And the trees I made 2 years ago. They are super easy to make and look perfect by the sign

I made these PEACE letter a few years ago as well. I always put them above the china cabinet at the old house so I just threw them up there this year as well. The more that I look at this space though, I think I'm going to create a village up here with fake snow, trees and lots of little houses. I've already started my collection for next year :)

I could not wait to decorate this house for Christmas this year! The funny thing is though, as I was decorating it just seemed harder for me then years past. At Windmill Cove everything had a place. I knew exactly where it went and overall decorating was easier. This year as I started pulling things out of boxes I just felt lost as to where to put it. I think it's just going to take time to figure it all out.

Merry Christmas!!!!!!
